报告题目: SILICON Quantum Dots as an Explosive Sensors

讲座摘要:

Fluorescent semiconductor quantum dots including II-VI and IV semiconductors, which were ultra-sensitive to various explosive vapors, were developed. Highly luminescent silicon quantum dots (Si QDs) were obtained and the optical characterizations of Si QDs were measured by UV-Vis and PL spectroscopy. The size distribution and orientation of Si QDs were measured by TEM and XRD. TEM image displays the spherical Si QDs with the size of 2-6 nm. As the reaction time increased, Si QDs grew and their emission wavelength shifted to the longer wavelength. The monotonic shift of the PL as a function of excitation wavelength resulted in the excitation of different sizes of QDs that had different optical transition energies. Quantum yield of Si QDs relative to harmane standard was measured in solution. To evaluate the quantum yield of Si QDs in DMF, harmane (ФΔ = 0.83) was used as reference compound. Si QDs were investigated for their possible chemo-sensor application to detected explosives such as TNT, RDX, and PETN.报告人简介:Prof. Honglae Sohn received Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry from University of Wisconsin-Madison under the direction of Prof. Robert West. He joined the faculty in the Department of Chemistry at the Chosun University in 2003, after postdoctoral studies at University of California-San Diego under Prof. Michael J. Sailor. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2009, and to Full Professor in 2013. He has published 120 peer-reviewed papers.
